The Audi R8 based PPI Razor GTR has graced our pages a few times now, all in pre-production form but the German tuners have recently unveiled the production ready Razor GTR at the 2009 installment of Top Marques Monaco.
The hardcore R8 is powered by a 580hp powerplant and maximum horsepower comes from the engine at 7400 rpm, while torque maxes out at a level of 600 Nm, from 6200 rpm. Weight of the PPI Razor GTR is 1580 kg, a full 250 kg lighter than the PPI R8, and 40 kg lighter than the Audi R8 V10. These modifications get the car from standstill to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 332 km/h. All of these changes came from racing, wind tunnel development, road testing, and track testing. The number one priority was a focus on power-to-weight ratio, without diminishing the car’s performance.
The car features a custom supercharger, which works seamlessly with the stainless steel high performance exhaust and ram-charged air filter system. Everywhere else, the company used carbon fiber to achieve weight reduction, including the new front bumper and diffuser. Bigger air intakes can also be seen at the front, which also cools the brake system thanks to the channeling in the new hood. Custom sideskirts, and rear wing with adjustable flap, adds to the new look.
PPI mounted MAG9 Carbon Fiber aluminum wheels, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires. 19-inchers are used at front, and 20-inchers at back. Within the wheels, you can catch a glimpse of the big orange six-piston brake calipers, which grab the big discs. New coils have also been designed for this car, and PPI even installed a hydraulic lift system. This allows the extremely low-riding car to be raised by 45 mm to clear speed bumps, and maneuver in parking garages.
The quality shines through inside, where PPI trimmed out the car in Onyx Nubuck leather with orange accenting. Carbon fiber is also seen all over the interior parts, even in the lightweight folding sport seats.
