SSC Ultimate Aero TT

SSC Ultimate Aero TT

With a speed clocked at 256 mph (412 km/h), the SSC Ultimate Aero was hailed the fastest production car in the world. The speed attained was recorded back in 13 September 2007 in West Richland, Washington, United States and confirmed by the Guinness World Records barely a month later.

The SSC’s body is entirely carbonfibre, features a flat undertray with twin venturi tunnels and weighs just under 60kg. Within that there’s a steel box-sectioned spaceframe chassis. Front suspension is conventional double wishbones, while the rear features an upper rocker arm with lower wishbone and an anti-roll bar.

With a V8 turbocharged engine with 1094 pound-feet of torque producing 1183 horsepower at 6950 rpm. This supercar did not come out of the blue as it took Shelby Supercars seven years to come up with the ultimate driver’s car.

The Aero also has looks to match it's performance but the build quality and interior trim are a little disappointing in a $600k car - it may be (slightly) faster and less than half the price of a basic Veyron but it is certainly well behind the Bugatti in build quality.
