MR Car Design Tunes 374-horse Audi Q7 V8 TDI, Brings its Styling in Line with the Facelift Model

The pre-facelift Audi Q7 4.2 TDI is the focus of MR Car Design's latest tune. The German firm starts off with the exterior styling of the large SUV, bringing it in line with the refreshed Q7. The kit includes a front bumper with LED daytime running lights, new headlamps and LED tail lights. There's also a new set of 22-inch wheels wrapped in 265/35-22 rubber, while interior improvements are limited to an available sports steering wheel sourced from the RS6.

Under the hood, MR Car Design's engineers managed to squeeze another 48-horses and 110Nm from the 4.2-liter turbocharged V8 diesel, lifting output from 326HP to 374HP, and peak torque from 760Nm to 870Nm. They also removed the electronic speed limiter.

Other available performance upgrades include an electronic module for the suspension that lowers the Q7's ride height.

Project Kahn gives the 2011 Audi Q7 a Styling Makeover

Striving to improve the look of the 2011 Audi Q7, British tuner Project Kahn released a comprehensive styling package for the German SUV. While there’s nothing wrong with that, we feel that an engine conversion would’ve been a welcome addition as well, justifying the aggressiveness of the wide body kit.

Taking inspiration from the firm’s previous Q7 project, the bodykit includes widened wheel arches, front wings with vents, modified bumpers and a rear roof wing. Kahn RS-X alloys round up the exterior changes.

Inside, all seven seats are clad in black perforated Nappa leather with contrasting Maranello Red stripes , while passengers sitting at the back can enjoy the entertainment package that includes two headrest-mounted 7-inch TFT screens, DVD player, wireless headsets and remote control.

The white speedometer and red rev-counter, new sill plates and aluminum pedals complete the interior upgrades.

All accessories are available as standalone pieces.

Audi Q7 With Majer Text Review And Latest Pictures

Despite being a diesel, Audi Q7 V12 TDI is by no means a sensible car! It’s got a massive engine with 500 hp and more torque than you can imagine. Still, tuner Anderson Germany thinks they can make it even more pointless extravagant. So first off, thanks to a special air cleaners and software optimizations, they increase the power to 550 hp.

Then they get busy with the visuals. Apart from those gigantic wheels, 0×22 inch with 295/30-22 finished in black, you struggle to tell the exquisite touches applied to the exterior. They include carbon fiber bordergrill, front and backdiffusor, mirrorcaps, roof drip, logo and exhaust tips all in black in contrast with the white finish of the body.

The changes are instantly noticeable inside the moment you set foot in the car and see that racing child seat! You get white carbon-applications to the ventilation shafts, Parking brake lever, consoles edges, steering wheel, door handles, and the edge of headliner, as well as the shift levers, the center console, the speedometer and the radio screen. The best feature of the interior however is the black leather and Alcantara upholstery.

Vehicles like the Audi Q7 TDI have done a lot to change the perception that diesel vehicles are crude, stinky, black smoke-spewers, and the company's lone turbodiesel SUV gets even better for 2011. (Sister company Volkswagen has several other diesels in its line, including the Touareg, with the same engine as the Q7.)

When it comes to performance, the biggest difference is the use of an eight-speed automatic in place of last year's six-speed. This new transmission provides seamless, smooth shifts. The TDI's engine remains unchanged from last year, and is still a pleasure to drive. Upon cold start, diesel noise is barely noticeable, and it gets even quieter as the engine warms up. Thanks to the 406 pound-feet of torque at a low, low 1750 rpm, it takes very little throttle to accelerate or pass in traffic. Braking is precise, and the discs respond seemingly instantly to driver input. Steering is typical Audi: plenty of accuracy without feeling nervous. While the ride is very firm on highways and straight roads and communicates bumps, the big payoff is in the canyons. This is where the large SUV feels more like an athletic sedan, but with tons of torque.

At the track, the TDI went from 0 to 60 mph in 8.6 seconds, which is about a second slower than the gas 4.2-liter V-8 we tested a couple years ago and the 2011 got through the quarter mile in 16.5 seconds at 82.3 mph. Braking from 60 mph took an impressive 124 feet, not bad for a 5400-pound vehicle. Despite having a third row of seats, the 2011 Q7 weighs 27 pounds less than the 2010 Volkswagen Touareg TDI we tested last year. Yet that VW sport/utility vehicle with the six-speed automatic was actually 0.7 second faster to 60 and went through the quarter mile in 16.0 seconds at 83.5 mph. For those who are looking for gas-powered Q7 options, there are two choices: the 3.6-liter V-6 has been replaced by a 272-horsepower, 3.0-liter V-6, and the 4.2-liter V-8 was replaced by a supercharged 333-horsepower 3.0-liter V-6, both backed by an eight-speed automatic.

Anderson Germany Rolls Out Tuned Audi Q7 V12 Diesel with 550HP

Tuning specialist Anderson Germany has got its hands on the most insane version of Audi's Q7 SUV, the flagship V12 TDI model. In stock form, the 12-cylinder oil-burner generates an output of 500 horsepower and a ludicrous 1,000 Nm (757.56 lb-ft) of torque from six liters of displacement, enough to get the all-wheel drive model to 100km/h (62mph) in 5.5 seconds. A new air filter and software optimizations from Anderson Germany help increase output by 10 per cent to 550-horsepower.

The tuning firm also fitted the Q7 V12 TDI with new brakes featuring eye-popping red-calipers and a lowering module for the suspension.

Next up on Anderson Germany's list is the exterior enhancements, which come in the form of a carbon fiber package for the front grille surround, mirror caps, rear diffuser and roof rails, while all logos, the air-vents, the twin tail pipes and the grille are finished in a shiny black color. The smoked lights at the back and a new set of 22-inch alloy wheels with black spokes shod in 295/30 22 tires all around, are also part of the package.

For the interior, the tuning company proposes white carbon-applications on the dashboard, steering wheel and doors, while the seating surfaces and door panels are upholstered in leather and quilted black Alcantara with contrasting white seems. Optionally, Anderson Germany also offers a matching child seat. The new LED lights round off the interior upgrades.

The German tuner has not given pricing yet on the new Q7 V12 TDI package.
