Power to the People: Late Model Racecraft's Twin Turbo Camaro Pushes out 1,810 Horses

The folks over at Late Model Racecraft pride themselves for being “Home of the world's quickest and fastest stock suspended LSX”. In one of their latest tunes, they crafted a twin-turbocharged Chevrolet Camaro for owner Kelly Bise who will race the car at the Texas Mile event this weekend. The insane Camaro was thrown on a dyno to see how much power is sent to the rear wheels. The result? 1,809.6 ponies. Impressive, to say the least. Listen to the sounds of the beast in dyno-testing video after the jump.

VIDEO: Corvette ZR1 ALMS Ad Belittles BMW, Ferrari and Porsche, but Ends up Losing to M3s in Sebring…

Just before the season opener of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) at the Sebring International Raceway in Florida this past weekend, GM aired an aggressive commercial touting its 638-horsepower-strong Corvette ZR1. The ad claims that the firm’s engineers had to reduce the stock ZR1’s LS9 engine output by 168HP in order to compete in the race and “just to be fair against Porsche, Ferrari and BMW”.

For one, the Corvette ALMS racers are actually powered by a V8 loosely based on the Z06’s LS7 engine (see the second video after the jump). Perhaps most importantly, the Corvettes finished third and fourth in the GT class in Sebring behind two BMW M3 GTs… Videos follow after the break.

Caught on Tape: SUV Rear-Ends Sports Reporter During Live TV Shot

We can think of many things going wrong during a live TV show, but an SUV backing up straight on a reporter isn’t one them. The indecent happened when ‘10News’ sports director Ben Higgins was reporting live from Tucson, Arizona on the NCAA basketball tournament. Fortunately for Higgins, his cameraman stepped in and stopped the Chevy driver before anything worse happened. Watch the video after the break.

Live Photos and First Video of Chevy's Steroid Packed Camaro ZL1

The Camaro that all Chevy fans were waiting for made its way to the Windy City today for its world premiere. It may not carry the more widely recognized Z28 name-tag as Chevrolet chose to resurrect the less known ZL1 moniker from the 1969 model, but then again, this is a different beast.

Lurking behind that angry looking fascia is 6.2-liter V8 powerplant pushing out an estimated output of 550-horses and a ferocious peak torque of 550 lb.-ft. of torque (745 Nm), channeled to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual stick shift. We've posted a more detailed preview here but if you hit the jump, you can check out live pictures from the Chicago Auto Show reveal as well as the first video of the car.

VIDEO: Vintage Impala Fires up its Tires

We’ve seen our share of burnouts ending in fiery fails, but in this case, the flames are a sign of success. We don’t know if the owner of this vintage Chevrolet Impala used some kind of special tires, but he leaves behind him two very cool burning trails, just liked Doc Brown’s time traveling DeLorean did in the Back to the Future movie. Watch the clip after the break.

VIDEO: Chevy Volt's Chief Engineer Takes First Pre-Production Model for a Spin

Even though General Motors is in the midst of bankruptcy protection, the firm's engineers and technicians have somehow managed to stay ahead in the development of the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid - or at least that's what they support. On Wednesday, the automaker completed the build of the first pre-production Volt more than a week ahead of schedule. Up until now, the development team was working with prototype mules utilizing the body of the Chevy Cruze and the hybrid drivetrain of the Volt.

The model's chief engineer, Andrew Farah, took the first pre-production Volt for a quick spin and while he was at it, GM also recorded the test drive on film. According to Farah, only a few Volts are being produced per week now but the company will soon ramp up production to create a fleet of around 80 pre-production vehicles by October.

"Most of these vehicles will be used for testing and validating the production intent design as well as developing the final vehicle software and controls - we'll also use them to tune the vehicle's overall driving experience," said Farah. "Some of these Volts will have very short lives as they'll be used in safety and structural integrity testing."

2010 Chevy Camaro KITTed with Knight Rider LEDs

Ever since the new Camaro hit the streets, we knew that someone was bound to make a link between GM's pony car and KITT. That someone happens to be member 'Spaceballone' of the Camaro5 forums and what he did is to modify and install an LED light scanner in that little mail-slot air intake on the hood above the Chevy bowtie badge.

The UK-based company that sells the KITT LED scanner for about $160 claims that the system comes with three settings that that mimic the light patterns on the original 1980's Knight Rider 2000 car and on the Shelby GT500KR in the shortly lived Knight Rider 2008 TV series.

We're not so sure if it's legal in most places to use the LEDs while driving, so if you're thinking about installing the system, better ask before you get into any trouble.

VIDEO: Chevrolet Tries to Explain the Volt's MPG Equivalent and MPG Ratings

Once upon a drive, all we had to know about a car's fuel consumption was how many miles the vehicle could travel on a single gallon of gas in the city, on the highway and on a combined route, regardless of whether the engine was fed with petrol or diesel.

Nowadays, the appearance of all-electric and extended range hybrid electric cars in showrooms has forced [ahem...] the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to embrace a new method to measure the energy consumption of alternative fuel vehicles called MPGe (Miles Per Gallon Equivalent).

The idea is to allow consumers to compare the energy consumption of EVs or Electric-Hybrid models such as the Leaf and the Volt to those of gasoline or diesel powered vehicles in terms of miles per gallon.

Knowing that many consumers are still baffled by the concept, General Motors released a short video where it tries to explain the new EPA ratings on the Chevrolet Volt. Scroll down to watch the clip.

Muscle Car V8 Sound Comparo: New Camaro SS vs Challenger R/T vs Mustang GT

Masculine looks aside, one of the main traits of any authentic pony car is the sound of its V8 engine. With this in mind, Edmund's Insideline created a short video with the audio tracks of the new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS, 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T and 2010 Ford Mustang GT. For the record, it seems that the Mustang was filmed on a different location than the other two cars, something that could have affected the sound quality. Either way, judging by this video, we'd give first place to the Stang because its V8 churns out a more consistent and less chainsaw-like sound with our second vote going to the Chevy. Check out the video after the jump cast your vote.

GM Releases "How Great the new Camaro is" Videos

Just as the 2010 Camaro begins to arrive at U.S. showrooms, the General released four new videos of its resurrected pony car that include media reactions from the presentation and a chat with the firm's Global Vehicle Line Executive, Gene Stephanyshyn, and President of Global Design, Ed Wleburn. For the record, all films were produced/edited by/for GM so don't be surprised that even the video with the automotive journalists' reactions, is about how stunningly good and flawless the new Camaro is...

Exclusive footage from Transformers 2 with all Chevy Autobots, Including Corvette and Volt

Since General Motors is investing heavily on the upcoming Transformers 2 movie, 'Revenge of the Fallen' with five Chevrolet-based characters taking roles as Autobots, it doesn't surprise us at all that the automaker managed to secure exclusive footage of the film edited by director Michael Bay. The video that follows contains scenes with all five Chevy-bots, including SIDESWIPE (Corvette Stingray concept), SKIDS and MUDFLAP (based on Chevy's Beat and Trax concepts), JOLT (Volt) and of course, BUMBLEBEE (Camaro SS).

Video and Live Photos of Transformers 2 Film Corvette Stingray Concept

Earlier today at the grand opening of the Chicago Auto Show, General Motors lifted the veil on its latest concept car, the Corvette Stingray that will play the role of 'SIDESWIPE' in the second iteration of the Transformer saga, called "Revenge of the Fallen". Unfortunately for Corvette fans, GM has no intention of building a production version of the concept, which is a pity as with the exception of the 'Batmobile-ish' rear-end, we found the Stingray's design quite sexy. Click through to see live photos of the Vette from the show as well as a video of the concept with GM Design Vice President, 'soft-talking' Ed-Welburn.

Monster Chevrolet Matiz with 505HP Corvette Z06 V8 Engine

A team of motorsport enthusiasts led by Fourdin Auto Sport founder, Yves Fourdin, have built one of the most extreme versions of the Chevrolet Matiz mini to date. The homologated racing car has been fitted a stock 7.0-liter V8 engine from the Corvette Z06 that delivers an output of 505HP. We don't have all the details but the Corvette-powered Matiz is said to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (62mph) in just 3.7 seconds and to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 10.94 seconds while the car's top speed is 260 km/h (162 mph). Click through to see a video of the Matiz V8 in action at Monza.
