Chevrolet Camaro

Chevrolet Camaro The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro will initially come in three rather stunning models LS, LT, and SS. The LS and LT will be powered by a 300-hp 3.6L V6, while the SS will pack either a beefy 422-hp 6.2L LS3 V8 (manual 6-speed) or a 400-hp 6.2L L99 V8 (automatic 6-speed with GM's fuel-saving Active Fuel Management). The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro coupes and convertibles will be built at GM's plant in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, which has long ranked high in independent audits of vehicle quality, among the best in North America. Underneath, the Camaro Chevrolet Camaro backfeatures front and rear independent suspensions. Gone is the simpler solid rear axle that was common on previous muscle cars, including the Camaro. This more sophisticated arrangement, shared with the Pontiac G8, tends to provide better ride quality and handling.Drivers looking for high tech functionality won't be disappointed either, as things like Bluetooth phone connectivity, remote vehicle starting system, a premium Boston Acoustics audio system, USB connectivity, ultrasonic rear parking assist plus OnStar and XM Satellite Radio will be offered.

Chevrolet Camaro insideAt the top of the range will be an SS model with a 6.2-liter 422-horsepower V8. In the current sales climate, the SS will probably be a low-volume performance model meant to win magazine covers and keep the Challenger from too many bragging rights. Still, Chevy claims that its V8 can achieve 23 mpg with the help of an Active Fuel Management system that de-activates some cylinders for highway cruising -- though that feature in only available on Camaros equipped with automatic transmissions. The Camaro concept was greeted with great enthusiasm when it bowed in 2007. The automotive press, for the most part, still loves the car, but they aren't sure whether it has a place in today's market. Surging gas prices might have made the heavy Camaro, with its emphasis on power, a bad idea before the first model is sold.
