The extroverted exterior uses weight-saving carbon-fiber for the hood, front fenders, front air splitter, and roof. In many places, the carbon weave is exposed as a design element, covered by clear-coat paint. The hood has a polycarbonate window to reveal the engine intercooler. To reliably handle such power, the LS9 engine benefits from upgrades such as titanium rods and intake valves, and a forged-steel crankshaft. Each engine is built by hand in the Wixom, Michigan, plant by a single technician who signs it once done.
An all-new LS9 motor produces 620 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 595 pound-feet of torque at 4000 rpm. Delivering 100 horsepower per liter, the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 is mated to a close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox with a new high-capacity clutch designed for the increased power.t differs from American sports cars of the past in that the driving experience doesn’t go to pieces when you arrive at a corner.Spoiled in the braking department, the ZR1 arrives with standard Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes. Enhancing the Z06 cabin, the ZR1 is distinguished with stitched logos, sill plates, and unique instrument panel that adds a boost gauge and 220-mph speedometer.
